Taking a Break

There's a lot of things on my plate right now, and all of them are real-life related. Two of them are jobs: the hotel I live in has me doing security -- not a big deal since I do this from my own room, but I end up getting up a lot. Not good for creativity. The other, my normal job, has me doing a few open to close shifts during the hotel's office hours, so I'm practically working 24-7.
Yes, I can sleep on the job, so long as the phone wakes me up.
After Thursday, I am relieved of both of my jobs -- the primary one for a few days -- so that I can attend the Rocket City Fur Meet in Huntsville, Alabama! I'll likely be hanging out in the artist's alley for much of the convention (since most of the crazy stuff seems to happen there), be sure to catch me and say hi!

The Usual Tricks

TSAT #155 is up about 12 hours late. I missed Monday because I left my power cord to my laptop at a friend's house for Easter, so I opted to pass that completely for updating on Wednesday (don't worry, Friday will update, too). Looks like I forgot to update here while I've been working on my own personal site.
I haven't bothered to update the vote incentive in awhile because I've been focusing too much into said website: I'll still be here on the MFZ, but TSAT just demanded that extras be added (hence the creation of the site). My side comic, Riptide, is also there and has been started, and I will probably pull all of the outdated TSAT for Doom stuff from here and just keep the comic archive.
Anyway, the new site is here at Treadhead Studios, which I am paying for myself. ... Even though the first year was only nine bucks. ^_^
I did get to talk to Kajin last night. He hasn't forgotten about you guys. Trust me, I want a comic from him as much as you guys do. :D

Reminded of the Past

It seems like a lot of folks on DeviantArt, as well as a favorite webcomic of mine have been sending us to trips back to the 90's. You know, back when shit was good. Sure, technology wasn't as great, but times were excellent. The quality in our TV and radio programming was outstanding; my comic should be evidence enough that I am a fan of the Saturday Morning Sonic series, but there's also other things that blew me away. Walkman, Gameboy, Sega Genesis, grunge rock, Nicktoons (and Metallica) actually being good, etc.
While on the subject, I've discovered (read: Qesun told me about it) a new kind of radio. Something that lets me hear what I want to hear. That would be the Pandora Internet Radio Project. What I've mostly been listening to is much of that 90s music I mentioned earlier, starting with one of my favorite bands, Alice in Chains. Man, I feel 10 all over again. :) It didn't help that I bought a Sawed-off Nerf shotgun and a lot of Nerf ammo for the upcoming Rocket City Fur Meet. Simply holding one of them in my hands brought back memories, too.

It's been almost a full month since I presented an update to TSAT. The vacation may have been a bit long, but it certainly wasn't much of a "vacation" here on my end. With more issues to do with my employment making my financial situation that much harder, I've had to slap on the Donation button again. I really didn't want to do this.
Real life wasn't all I was busy with, though. I've been working ahead with the comic -- way ahead. At roughly issue #200 there will be an 8 page "mini-book" drawn and inked roughly in the style of Frank Miller's Sin City. You know, solid black and white with hints of one color or another. Because things look very fucking cool like that. It will also help tie up another project I had just finished a few days ago, I'm not sure if I mentioned what it was here, and that is TSAT: Riptide. Soon enough I may start releasing a page a week once a certain point in the main comic is met -- just for the sake of continuity, of course.
The TSAT Doom stand-alone mod is also still in progress, though slowly. I'm still pushing to get out that two map (plus) demo, though the only thing stopping me is sprites. I personally don't like spriting as much as the comic may show, but there's a reason why this is. It's one thing to make a pose or two for the comic to fit the panel, it's another to make a sheet. Uhhhgh.
Little stuff going on as well: Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa, the only MMORPG I ever favored, is closing down due to a lack of population. And since it's closing on February 28th, it will be free to play and download. I really suggest checking it out if you have a credit card (don't worry, you won't be charged). ... It was different. It was fun. And it was also largely unknown: hence why it's closing.
There was also another, little game that, thanks to Scott R. at VG Cats, gave me a bit of a chill. A little independent game, Eversion. Cute and innocent on the box... with a dark secret inside. Free to play, will keep you busy for an hour or so. Not for the faint of heart. ;)

Holiday update

Happy Holidays:
Sprite Update, and quite a bit of
revamping. Check out the BG section and the rest of the archives. The archive
redesign is close to finished but not quite there yet; at least with what we
have it is at least bearable to look at now. I understand that they are a few
broken links, I've covered all of those in the BG section, and will soon fix the
rest. Check out DBurraki's Eggman ;] The SFX section has been merged with the BG
section temporarily.
