Right, so TSAT did not come away with the Sonic Comic award (It only got 4th in votes), but, the Mystical Forest Zone did walk away with the Impressive Website Layout award and by a longshot. Thanks guys. :) Kajin's been ecstatic with the news.
The game is slowly chugging along. While the demo is supposed to have two levels, let's keep in mind that the comic revolves around these maps as well so I've been working on future levels like crazy. This also means that I have a lot of texture work to do, since once the remnants of the Freedom Fighters get out of the sewers, comic background and game will be similar (just to save me time!).
Speaking of TSAT, I've got another comic update for you. Took over three weeks, though. Work was a wee bit stressful for awhile. Oh yeah, don't tell my boss at work, but this update was actually done at work...
Okay, boys and girls, since I keep getting this questions originating completely out of impatience, I'm going to list all of the questions I have received plus one or two more to completely assert what is really going on. Please keep in mind, I have a full time job, I am not the fastest guy in the world, and I have a lot going on underneath all of that. TSAT is not my life. It is only a hobby, and it always will be. I never planned to get paid for it.
1: Are you still working on TSAT?
Yes, both the game and the comic.
2: When is the next TSAT going to be finished?
When It's Done. (tm)
3: Will there ever be an update schedule for TSAT?
Never. My job as it is never has a "standard" schedule and there are far too many unscripted events going on in my reality. I do try to go for a goal of once a week, of course even that doesn't happen most of the time.
4: You said that the TSAT game teaser was going to be released after strip #102. What gives?
I thought that the version of the Teaser I was advertising was going to be too short for the hype. Even after adding an extra game mode it was still going to be too short, so I am going to add a second, much larger map which will bring in more features and other capabilities of this game into play.
There should be a new screenshot in the TSAT for Doom page to offer a glimpse of the second map.
5: Then when will it be ready?
When It's Done. (tm) I'm not promising a release date this time because I will fail it. I still have plenty of sprites to finish up.
6: Where is Kajin and/or Damien? Why are you (PDF) the only one updating?
I have spoken with Kajin every now and then, but I haven't talked to either in a month or more now through MSN. I am not sure what they're up to, all I know is that they still want ownership of the MFZ when the question of making a "splinter site" came up in which Qesun and I would run.
That idea, by the way, fell through the floor.
Now that question time is over, I bring an aged issue of TSAT (which got released on one or two forums and failed to make it over here), and a brand new issue along with it.
Added a screenshot to the TSAT for Doom page and some captions. The new shot actually comes from the WIP Full version which isn't due out for quite some time. I've also planted another update to the TSAT comic.
First thing is, the new hard drive was replaced without a hitch, so I'm back up to full speed. Second... whoa. CLICK HERE
You love me! You really love me! "tl;dr"? TSAT was just nominated for Best Sonic Comic of 2007. Also, the MFZ was nominated for the Impressive Layout Award. Amazing.
I thank you guys like you would not believe right now. I'm going to try to keep it out of my mind as I continue the comic, though that'll be hard as I am also erasing much of my life's problems.
In other news, Electronic Arts is truly giving away Command and Conquer: Tiberian Dawn. Yes, you heard that correctly. If you have not ever played this game, and you like to command your forces into battle, this game is (one of) the one(s) that started it all. One of my favorite games, and I highly recommend it.
EDIT: Oh, shit, I forgot to mention, uh, TSAT #104 is up.
Ha ha, and I had said that things couldn't get worse.
You know, Murphy has always been a nagging little thorn in my side.
Okay, my last update was over a month ago. Just that day later my Internet service was cut off due to DSL non-payment. Hey, I didn't get a bill in the mail, I didn't reply -- till the Internet light on my DSL modem dimmed.
So, I waited till pay day to get it paid off. That took two weeks. The day it was to be re-connected, my computer had shut down unexpectantly. I restarted it, and the PC told me it overheated.
I expected this. The room gets little to no air circulation; player and computer alike suffer in this one-room studio when the outside temperature is only 75*F (about 23*C). I did a system scan to see if maybe I lost another fan. Well, the fan worked, ... but the hard drive was damaged.
After several other fits with shipping, I had put off all manner of projects aside for this hard drive, expecting it within only one week. Dell goofed up the address, and so, just now, I got my drive. What was that, three weeks of struggles? Anyway, I'm quite pissed.
So, yeah, I'm alive. TSAT is still on hold until everything is settled. And I wanted the Teaser Edition of the game out of there by now... gods damnit.
In other news that doesn't have shit to do with me, it seems we're that close to having Walkers become a reality. You know, bipedal, or two-legged tanks. Check out this site here if you want to bore yourself with some of the technical info and a few pictures of this. Much of the information is locked away (you know, classified), but if you're into that techno mumbo-jumbo like I am, this site is for you.
Irritable. Long day. TSAT update on its second birthday (the comic started on August 3rd of 2005 before my introduction to the MFZ itself). I'm going to sleep now before I pop someone's head off with my bare hand.
While I don't have any actual updates to present right now, users with slower connections may find that the site layout may end up loading much faster than it did before -- at least, the front page for now. I've cleaned up all kinds of copious code earlier out of both boredom and necessity, while still showing the same layout it still had before.
Kajin, why did you have to use MicroSoft Front Page? D<
